Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor

The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking an Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor to teach American Sign Language for 2025-26.
Required academic qualifications to be eligible for the Instructor position are, 1) a Master's degree with a focus in American Sign Language or equivalent from an accredited institution (Bachelor's Degree with a focus in American Sign Language may be accepted conditionally upon the candidate's enrollment in a Master's Program), 2) A commitment to increasing equity and inclusion within the discipline.
Required academic qualifications to be eligible for the Teaching Assistant Professor position are, 1) a Doctorate from an accredited institution in Education or similar field, 2) A commitment to increasing equity and inclusion within the discipline.
Preferred academic qualifications for both the Instructor and Teaching Assistant Professor positions are:
- Demonstrated success in broadening inclusivity and supporting all students within the profession.
- One year of full-time teaching experience in the pertinent field of study (ASL} at the college level.
- Ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses in American Sign Language
- Experience using technology in teaching.
- Demonstrated high level of academic ASL proficiency
- Understanding of Deaf History and Culture
